Height is more reliable than age alone, but the final choice should still feel controllable in the player’s stance and backlift.

How to check the recommendation

• Use the result as a starting point, then compare the maker’s size label on the exact bat.
• Ask the player to take their normal stance and make a controlled backlift. The bat should not force them to lift the shoulder or lose balance.
• If the player is close to a size boundary, compare both sizes. Choose control and comfortable pickup rather than buying an oversized bat to grow into.
• For adult bats, weight distribution and pickup can matter as much as the printed size.
