Measure the player rather than relying on age alone. This tool uses official sizing references from SG and DSC to estimate a starting size for batting gloves and batting pads, then links to the closest matching NZ Cricket Store collections.
Place the hand flat and measure from the first wrist crease at the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger.
Measure in a straight line from the centre of the kneecap down to the instep, where the tongue of the shoe sits.
| Starting size | Reference hand length | Fit check |
|---|---|---|
| Small Junior | About 16.5 cm | Fingertips should sit close to the glove ends without pressing into them. |
| Junior | About 17.5 cm | The palm should lie flat without loose material bunching around the grip. |
| Youth | About 19 cm | Check finger movement and grip with the player’s usual bat. |
| Adult | About 21 cm | Confirm the cuff covers the wrist without restricting movement. |
| Professional / larger adult | About 22.5 cm | Compare the exact model because brands do not all use this label. |
| Starting size | Kneecap-to-instep measurement | Fit check |
|---|---|---|
| Extra Small Junior | 36–38 cm | The knee roll should centre on the kneecap. |
| Small Junior | 38–40 cm | The pad should cover the instep without pushing into the shoe. |
| Junior | 40–42 cm | Check coverage while standing in a batting stance. |
| Youth | 42–43 cm | Straps should hold the pad securely without forcing it around the leg. |
| Small Adult | 43–44 cm | Compare with Adult if the player is close to 44 cm. |
| Adult | 44–46 cm | Players above this range should check for a longer or larger model. |
Choosing a bat or helmet as well? Use the cricket bat size calculator, thigh pad size calculator and helmet size calculator.
Use the glove measurement requested by the calculator rather than choosing by age alone. For batting pads, measure from the centre of the kneecap down toward the instep as shown in the tool. Brand construction can vary, so treat the result as a starting size and confirm the individual product guide before ordering.
For younger players, the Junior Cricket Gear NZ Guide explains how bats, gloves, pads, helmets and protection should work together.
They should feel secure without excessive movement, while still allowing the player to close their fingers naturally around the bat handle. Browse junior batting gloves after checking the calculator.
The knee roll should sit around the knee and the pad should not interfere with running, bending or stance. If the knee sits well below the knee roll, the pad is likely too large.
The labels describe progressively larger fits, but measurements differ between manufacturers. Use the calculator result first, then compare junior pads, youth pads or adult pads.
Some models are handed and others are ambidextrous. Always confirm the exact variant before ordering. You can browse right-handed gloves, left-handed gloves, right-handed pads and left-handed pads.
Need thigh protection too? Use the Cricket Thigh Pad Size Calculator.
Glove reference lengths are based on the current DSC batting glove size guide. Pad ranges are based on current SG batting-legguard size charts, including the SG RP Lite batting legguard guide. These are starting points only: construction and internal fit can vary by model.
This calculator is free to use for players, parents, coaches, schools and cricket clubs. If it helps your players choose equipment more confidently, you are welcome to share or link to this page from your club, school or coaching resources.

The Bull 31 Autograph is a distinct DSC glove model, combining a sheep leather palm with pre-curved, multi-flex finger construction. It is designed to close naturally around the handle while retaining reinforced coverage across the fingers. This listing is for one pair in Youth size for a right-handed batting stance, not the standard Bull 31 model.
Right Hand refers to your batting stance, not simply the hand you write with. Check that the fingertips sit comfortably and that you can close both hands around the bat without the palm stretching tight. Youth is a size designation rather than a guaranteed age range.
Remove the gloves from your kit bag after use, open the wrist fastenings and air them thoroughly. Dry naturally away from heaters and strong direct sunlight. Avoid soaking or machine washing the leather palm.
Is this the regular Bull 31?
No. This is the Autograph model and is listed separately.
Are left-handed or adult sizes included?
No. The variant offered here is Youth Right Hand only.
Are these wicketkeeping gloves?
No. They are cricket batting gloves.
